There are three types of diabetes. In Type 1 your body does not make insulin. In type 2 the body does not make and use insulin. The final third type is called gestational diabetes, and it happens in some women who get this kind of diabetes when they are pregnant. Know which diabetes you have and act upon it accordingly.
Food
Be very particular about what you eat. Avoid any sweet/ sugary food. Eating healthy is the key, even if you don’t have diabetes. Apart from healthy eating, the quantity of food intake also plays an important role. Keep a proper count of carbohydrates, as it has the biggest impact on sugar level in the body. Portion your meal properly, which is not just balanced in terms of nutrients but also terms of quantity. Avoid alcohol and if you drink, then avoid drinking any alcoholic beverages empty stomach.
Exercise
When your exercise, your body uses sugar for energy, helping the body to use insulin more efficiently. Plan out your exercise and be regular. Coordinate your meal and medication schedules with your exercise. Ensure that you keep a proper count and don’t forget to be hydrated.
Pattern
Try to understand your pattern. The sugar level might vary due to stress, menstruation, menopause etc. Look for these patterns and take extra care during this time.
